some summer things...

So I havent posted since Kal was out to visit. geez- i guess this is just going to have to be a regular few week update. I will really try to be better. We had an awesome visit with Kallie. We had some fun filled excursions and some lovely down time. A lot of time to reconnect as sisters and rememeber how much fun we had together. We didn't even get sick of each other- which can actually happen- but only when were living together i think. I'm so proud of Kal- shes a nurse now and doing awesome things working with a community hospital in a low income area. We're all secretly hoping that she doesnt love it too much, so that she moves back to this coast! She told me a secret of how to get her back here... but i think shes just going to have to wait on that one. wink wink.
So Jon and I had a great quick trip to California for labor day weekend and then some. We visited the SR Fitchs, ran 18 miles, went boating and spent time with family. We drove from SR to Sac town to see my mom and a few extras! That was a bonus! Then from there we went to see the Barnard parents and some extras as well! Some apple hill action, where mom and dad treated us to the best non-homemade apple pie ever. We took home a 20 pound box of apples for some scrumptious delights! Had some nice wine at a local winery, and then took a dip in the ol' American river. It was an awesome day! oh yeah- and we obtained another vehicle so that Jon and I could both go to work and not worry about winter conditions. Yup- so that means we had to drive back to oregon separately but at least we caravaned.
As soon as we got back to the O state, I started my new job with OSU extension. I've only had three days of work and after a little melt down after getting home on the first day, I'm really liking it. I see so much potential for this program to really affect our community. ITs pretty cool to get paid to help underprivileged kids and families. I'll let you all know how it goes... theirs still a lot to learn and figure out in the new place.
Welp, time to get going to get to munch n movies tonight (thats a community friday night event in the summer here- the project a movie in the park for free!)

Hopefully I'll post some pictures soon... we have some additions to the aquarium family. We were pretty crushed by the state of our young turtle delivery (one little guy arrived dead- poor little thing). We plan to hold a formal service for his short life and you all are invited. But we had 3 little guys figuring out how to swim in our tank. Its pretty fun to watch them learn a little more each day!

Hi Jamie! Dustin talked with his Dad over the weekend and told me the great news about your new job! Congrats to you! I have really enjoyed reading your blog from this Summer and catching up. I think it's very cool that Jon plans to hunt. My grandpa and father hunted in Texas so I'm all for utilizing wild game as opposed to inhumane animal farming.
